Service Description

This permaculture design course revolves around suburban sustainability in Orange County, California. This class is fully in person and offers many hands-on learning experiences from subject matter specialists. Throughout this course participants will work together to create their own permaculture design for actual property owners in Santiago Canyon. Your instructors will guide you through client interviews, site assessments, systems design, presenting and communicating your design as well as other skills needed to practice permaculture design. Course topics include: - Permaculture Principles and practices - How to create a permaculture design - Soils and compost - Water systems - Food forest and microstock - California ecosystems and native plants - Shelter and natural building - Sociocracy / Dynamic governance - Tree care in a permaculture orchard - Urban homesteading - Herbs for healing and medicine making - Design scenarios Location: This course is based out of a beautifully forested property in Silverado Canyon. In addition to this property, we will be hosting 5 of our class days at different ongoing permaculture project sites. These locations are located in Dana Point, Costa Mesa, Irvine, Laguna Niguel and San Juan Capistrano. The class will only meet at one of these locations per day. Cost: $1500
